When Apple announced its latest iPhone 4 in June 2010, Steve Jobs boasted of the unique display of the iPhone 4 as “the highest resolution display ever in a phone,†which they codenamed as the Retina display.
The iPhone 4, which was able to book in a record number of 600k pre-orders on the very first day, was quoted by Mr. Steve Jobs that the retina display sported by iPhone 4 “has a resolution that is higher than the limit of the human retina at standard viewing levels.â€

Just 3 months after such an announcement made by Apple’s Steve Jobs, the Japanese Technology giant Sharp has succeeded to reach the same standards that were equipped in iPhone 4.
Sharp has challenged Apple’s smartphone display reign by announcing an Android smartphone with the same resolution and dimensions as the iPhone 4’s Retina Display.
The Sharp IS03 will sport a 960 x 640 resolution on its 3.5-inch screen when it launches next month on Japan’s KDDI au network, as reported by Engadget.
The new device is going to utilize the advanced super view technology developed by Sharp, to improve the display’s viewing angle. This ASV is almost at par with the iPhone 4 with in-plane switching technology.
Sharp’s new phone is equipped with a 9.6-megapixel autofocus camera and powered through Android OS 2.1, multi-touch and live wallpaper features. Also, this device adopted the latest Flash Lite 4.0 and through this device can support Flash contents quite easily.
